Here’s everything you need to know about navigating our core returns and charges.

What is a Core?

A core is essentially a used or non-functional auto part that can be refurbished to a like-new condition. These parts typically include engines, transmissions, fuel pumps, and other key components that have limited availability. By remanufacturing these parts, we not only save you money but also contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing waste. 

How Core Charges Work

Adsit applies a core charge as a form of deposit to incentivize the return of an old part, which can then in turn be remanufactured. This charge is included in the final price of the part and is not an additional fee. Once you return the core to us using our straightforward process, this deposit is refunded to you. Parts that typically carry a core charge at Adsit include fuel pumps, engines, transmissions, and Becker radios.

Returning a Core

To return a core to Adsit, simply reuse the packaging your part arrived in. It’s important to drain any fluids from parts to prevent leaks during transportation. Include a note with your name, billing address zip code, and order number, or fill out and enclose the Core Return Identification Form. You can send your returns to:

Transmission, Engine, and Fuel Tank Returns

When returning a transmission, engine, or fuel tank core to Adsit, it’s crucial to follow a few essential steps to ensure a smooth process and avoid any potential charges due to leakage. First, thoroughly drain all fluids from the core. This step is vital to prevent any leakage during transport, for which the buyer could be held liable. Next, securely pack the core using the original box, pallet, and packaging materials provided, and strap the box to the pallet to prevent any movement during shipping. Include a copy of your invoice inside the box, or complete and enclose the identification form provided to expedite the core return process. For shipping, please contact XPO Logistics at the local or national number provided with your paperwork to arrange pick-up. Reference the PRO number on the bill of lading that accompanied your core; this number also acts as a tracking number. Finally, when the XPO driver arrives, provide them with one copy of the bill of lading, retaining the other for your records. This structured approach ensures your core return is handled efficiently, maintaining the integrity of the part and ensuring your core deposit refund is processed without delays.

Core Charge Refund

Upon receiving your core, we will process your refund to the original payment method used. The refund process might take 2-4 weeks, depending on your financial institution’s policies. If you haven’t received your refund after this period, please contact your bank or card provider before reaching out to us.

No Core?

There are some occasions where you do not have a core to return to us, and that’s ok! The other purpose of a core charge is to acquire a core elsewhere in order to keep the rebuild cycle going. If you do not have a core available to send back to us, please let us know so that we can make proper arrangements and look for a replacement core.
