Mercedes-Benz continues to provide products that can embody the brand as a timeless luxury which can only mean “the best or nothing.” The German carmaker continues to appeal to drivers of all ages coming from different areas of the world as they explore a more seamless customer assistance and connectivity.

The brand also envisions and works at forging a future of automated driving while creating smart mobility for semi-autonomous navigation. All the innovations and development are part of the company’s plan to deliver customers only the best results.

MB Vans and Robots Rolling Out

Mercedes-Benz Vans, the first company to provide a solution to the need for a means of transport that can take on heavy loads and challenging jobs, continues to expand its work on delivering the latest and most innovative technologies.

Just this week, MB Vans expanded its goal of producing the finest line of cars that can provide automated driving as well as automated delivery.

The famous German automobile maker pushed for the growth of its partnership with Starship Technologies, a startup that has taken on the task of creating a fleet of autonomous robots that can carry out a local delivery within a radius of 2 to 3 miles for a span of 15 to 30 days.

Starship Technologies announced a total of $17.2 million in seed funding, with Daimler AG leading the round of investments.

Daimler AG is a multinational corporation with subsidiaries like Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Benz, under which MB Vans operates.

Mothership: An Automated Delivery

In September last year, Starship Technologies and Daimler AG introduced to the public their “mothership” concept. The concept is the world’s first transportation system that transforms a Sprinter van into a transport hub for eight delivery robots.

To create a greater efficiency for deliveries, the concept will integrate the advantages of a van with robots that the startup has designed to run autonomously.

It is the belief of both companies that robots will improve the efficiency and provide solutions to issues that the delivery industry currently face, specifically regarding logistics.

The innovation that the business venture offers is the ability of robots to travel short distances, away from the MB van as a hub and without the need for an external source of power. And even when the robots navigate around town autonomously, humans will still monitor their movement, and they may take control anytime.

While it is still necessary for the automated robot to return to the warehouse for a reload after doing every delivery, its automation significantly enhances any distribution operation.

And with the use of the Sprinter van as a mobile hub, the radius for the operation of the robots remarkably widens and, in turn, reduces the current demands for the construction of warehouses for any business delivery.

By combining the automation of delivery robots and the functionalities of a mobile hub, the concept creates an opportunity for van customers and other niche markets to venture into new business models and services.

Aside from improving operations, the mothership concept also creates a convenient delivery process for end customers.

With the latest agreement on the seed funding, both companies aim to develop and polish the mothership concept for a more systematic performance in the coming months. Starship Technologies and other partners will conduct the primary pilot tests for the van hub and delivery robots in Europe.

After the initial testing of the robots, a widespread testing of the concept will take place with the participation of various logistics partners. The project teams have decided to conduct the pilot in a real-world environment at the last quarter of this year.

The project will expect a total investment of around 500-million euros from MB Vans for the automation, digitization, and robotics expenses calculated to last until 2020.

Semi-automation in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Apart from the collaboration with Starship Technologies, Mercedes-Benz is no stranger to automation. After a year since the debut of their E-Class sedan, Mercedes-Benz also unveiled their 2018 coupe version.

Aside from the wider, longer, and taller four-door build of the model, the E-Class boasts of a softer and way more organic-looking body. And similar to its S-Class and C-Class coupe siblings, the 2018 coupe also excludes a B-pillar.

Also typical of the midsize E-Class is the hardtop design that car enthusiasts rarely find nowadays. Customers may also enhance the coupe’s look with the optional Sports Package, to achieve a more aggressive personality with additional bumpers, wheels, and side skirts.

But what distinctly places the E-Class to a level that’s different from other competition is the company’s Pilot Drive feature, which functions as a semi-autonomous assistant to the driver. It also has the Distance Pilot Distronic adaptive cruise control to guide drivers with their road navigation. That particular feature will manage distances at speeds of up to 130 mph.

Another smart feature unique to Mercedes-Benz products is the Magic Vision Control, which will clean the windshield through three semi-autonomous wash programs. First, is cleaning without splashing water that can briefly disrupt any driver’s vision. Instead of sprays, wipers have mini outlets that will intelligently release water directly in front of the wipers. That will reduce washer fluid consumption.

Next, is the heating system for a more convenient cleaning process and one that also melts frost well enough and with ease. And last, but not least, the intelligent controls will also know when the top of the vehicle is down, so they can keep the fluid and dirt from getting in your car.

Dealers will distribute the smart car in the summer of 2017, with an expected release of the convertible and AMG variants.

Takeaway

Mercedes-Benz consistently provides customers with innovative technologies that rightly positions the brand as a front runner in the industry. With the future of smart navigation, autonomous driving becomes even more possible. Whether it’s a mobile hub for robots or an intelligent driver assist in coupes, Mercedes-Benz will deliver.

2017 to Bring Android Integration to New Benz Vehicles

If you have an Android phone and you have used the “OK, Google’ function to ask it a question or have it complete some task, you already understand just how neat and powerful the technology can be.

All of that utility will be getting integrated into new Mercedes-Benz vehicles come 2017, which will allow for some awesome connectivity between all your tech at home, at work, in the car and on your phone, if you so wish. The possibilities are staggering with this new addition to Mercedes-Benz cars, and considering the speed at which developers can build and release new apps these days, it’s probably not going to be long before we can do things with Google-connected cars that people never dreamed of. I’d offer an example here, but there’s no way I’m giving away my billion-dollar app idea! 😉

One thing I do wonder about, though, is just how deep the connectivity is going to go. It would be truly amazing if it could, on its own, discover an issue and let you know that you need to order a new Mercedes-Benz transmission for your vehicle.

Honestly, though, I look forward to turning on the heat in my car before I get in by telling my phone to take care of it and during the commute home tell my car to get the heater in my house running so it can be comfortable inside right when I get there.

Mercedes-Benz today announced the integration of the Google Assistant on Google Home. Google Home, a voice-activated personal assistant, makes it possible to interact with the Mercedes-Benz vehicle from home. The feature will be available to Mercedes-Benz customers in 2017.

The collaboration with the Google Assistant is part of Mercedes-Benz long-term goal of creating an intelligent ecosystem around cars, and leveraging cutting-edge technology to make everyday life more convenient for their customers. With this integration, Google Home users can send destination to their Mercedes-Benz Cars; set and activate heating and cooling systems within their vehicles; find out fuel and charge levels; check lock status as well as interact with their cars in order to lock doors and many more—all from the comfort of their home. Mercedes-AMG vs Honda

Carwow hosted a recent video featuring a quarter mile drag race between the Mercedes-AMG A45 and Honda Civic Type R, both Hot Hatches with the Mercedes costing an extra third of the Honda’s entire price.

Of course the race was to see just how much faster the Mercedes was with the added features of 4 wheel drive and launch control.

We live in an era where hot hatches are divided into two different performance categories: the normal hot-hatches, which are the ones that offer all the usual traits and the so-called hyper hatches, a new breed of compact performance cars that pack so much grunt, they can easily embarrass a less skilled supercar driver at the traffic lights.

Both the Mercedes-AMG A45 and the Honda Civic Type R belong to the hot-hatch universe; but the German model is the one packing significantly more power and a bigger price tag.

The point of this drag race is not to find out which of the two models is the fastest on a straight line, Continue Reading

Interesting New Car-Sharing Feature from Mercedes-Benz

Alternate means of transportation have been rapidly growing in the last couple years. Uber and Lyft, the ridesharing services have exploded in popularity and have almost wiped out traditional taxi services in many locations. Mercedes’ Croove service might be the revolution that kills traditional car rental services as it is intended to connect renters directly with vehicle owners to rent directly. Croove allows users to enter in parameters about what make, model and luxury features they require in their rental car and will return a list of available options for the renter’s timeframe needed.

The clever app can help people get a taste of what it’s like to be behind the wheel of a Mercedes, but surprisingly the service is not a Mercedes exclusive, instead Daimler has set out to have any car available on the service so long as it is in good condition and is no more than 15 years of age. That last limitation can be a bit of a bummer for anyone who would want to rent a classic for their trip to Italy – but it makes sense as far as difficulty of insurance goes.

So despite the decision to have their service allow for any manufacturer’s cars to go up into the rental program, it seems Mercedes has found out a clever means of making a profit here that will benefit them more than most over auto companies.

Croove will not only get new drivers behind the wheels of Mercedes, enjoying that posh interior or smoothest ride possible suspension offering the perfect carriage for their business trip or vacation. That is definitely a beneficial marketing move – but even more than that, the new Croove service could offer prospective Mercedes buyers a means to actually afford their payments on that new luxury coup they’ve been eyeing as they can rent out their new Mercedes every once and awhile and take the bite off their payments giving access to luxury cars to income brackets who’d never think of them before.

It’s become a well-trod refrain, but carmakers are looking at what comes after ownership, and car-sharing between individual owners and renters is one of those models. Mercedes-Benz has begun its own car-share service that adopts that approach – Croove, a platform that has now launched as a pilot in Munich, Germany.

Croove is pure peer-to-peer car rental model, where renters use an app to make choices about what model, trim level and other options they’re looking for in a car. The app will poll its database of registered vehicle owners in the area and find out what’s available for the time and duration need by the renter, and connect the dots.  Continue Reading

Can Mercedes Compete After Rosberg?

Mercedes Racing management had only a couple day’s notice that their new championship driver Rosberg intended to retire now that he’s rode to the championship in Mercedes’ racing machine, which has left the German auto team scrambling for a new driver for the 2017 season.

It seems that Valtteri Bottas is the first choice of Mercedes, but they intend not to make an official announcement until January third so we’ll be on the edge of our seats until then.

Rosberg was a fantastic driver who took advantage of what Mercedes could put under the hood, but Mercedes is certain to find more competent drivers to fill out their team in the wake of Rosberg.

In recent days it’s become clear that Valtteri Bottas is Mercedes’ first choice to replace Nico Rosberg – and that Williams is open to negotiating the Finn’s release. Adam Cooper explores the implications of a potential deal.

Two weeks have passed since Nico Rosberg’s retirement decision sent shockwaves through F1, and left the Mercedes management scrambling to find a new teammate for Lewis Hamilton.

The team said on Thursday that there would be no announcement before January 3, so that has at least left observers of this extraordinary situation a chance to catch their collective breath. Continue Reading

Mercedes-Benz to Start Building in China

China’s been a hot topic this year for various reasons, but for Mercedes it has been the 28% increase of sales in that market just this year, with more growth expected to follow.

To maximize sales in the country though, Daimler has made the move to manufacture the components for electric cars as well as whole electric cars for the Chinese market locally.

As part of a drive to manufacture more products local. Daimler may make batteries and Mercedes-Benz electric cars in China as part of a drive to manufacture more products locally and to try to boost sales, according to board member Hubertus Troska.

Sales of the German company’s luxury cars in China have grown 28% so far this year after Mercedes spruced up its designs to give its cars a more sporty and upmarket feel, gaining traction with drivers in the world’s largest car market.

“I am confident that Mercedes in China will show a decent performance next year,” Troska, Daimler’s board member responsible for Greater China, told reporters. Continue Reading

Mercedes-Benz Dodges a Big Bullet

The judge presiding the class action lawsuit in New Jersey this tuesday has dismissed the case that Mercedes had misled their customers about their Bluetec Clean Diesel after more recent studies have found the levels of greenhouse gases coming off the exhaust.

The case was dismissed due to the plaintiffs not being able to provide evidence of such advertisements in America that would mislead them on the level of emissions from the vehicle.

A U.S. judge in New Jersey on Tuesday threw out a proposed class action lawsuit alleging that automaker Mercedes (DAIGn.DE) misled consumers about emissions standards in “BlueTec Clean Diesel” vehicles.

U.S. District Judge Jose Linares said the plaintiffs did not have standing to bring the case.

Plaintiffs claimed Mercedes falsely advertised the BlueTec vehicles as having lower emissions. They said that they later found that the emissions were higher than U.S. standards permitted.

The judge said the plaintiffs failed to show they actually viewed any of Mercedes’ advertisements touting the cleaner technology. He gave them leave to revise their complaint. Continue Reading

Mercedes-Benz Mentions in Hip Hop

There’s something in the air when it comes to the hip hop community and Mercedes-Benz. I imagine it has a lot to do with the fact that the manufacturer makes some of the best vehicles on the road (I might be a little biased, but hey) and that there is a thread of exclusivity when it comes to the German automaker. Either way, there are two things rappers really seem to love: Mercedes-Benz and rims (and we’re here to talk about the former).

We were honestly looking to create a full list of all the times that Mercs got mentioned in rap songs, but apparently there are literally thousands of them. Mercedes-Benz mentions are so prevalent in hip hop and rap, in fact, that they squash the number two spot (Bentley) by more than double.

As much as we’d like to hunt down every mention for our readers, that would be a months-long (years, maybe) ordeal that would completely turn this blog on its head and thoroughly change the subject matter. That all being said, we decided to whittle it down to just our favorites. We’re probably aging ourself a little bit with the picks below, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re seriously great songs.

So, without further ado and in no particular order – here are our favorite (which are obviously the best) rap songs that talk about Mercedes-Benz with the titles being links to each song’s video/song:

Eminem – Forgot About Dre

Slim Shady, hotter then a set of twin babies
In a Mercedes Benz with the windows up
When the temp goes up to the mid-80s
Calling men ladies, sorry, Doc, but I been crazy

Notorious B.I.G.- Big Poppa

Believe me sweety I got enough to feed the needy
No need to be greedy I got mad friends with Benz’s
C-notes by the layers, true f**kin players
Jump in the Rover and come over

2pac – Picture Me Rollin’

Picture me rolling in my 500 Benz
I got no love for these n***as, there’s no need to be friends

50 Cent – In da Club

When I pull out up front, you see the Benz on dubs
When I roll twenty deep, it’s twenty knives in the club

Jay-Z & Kanye West – Otis (Feat. Otis Redding)

Now I’m bout to make them tuck they whole summer in
They say I’m crazy, well, I’m ’bout to go dumb again
They ain’t see me ’cause I pulled up in my other Benz
Last week I was in my other other Benz

Kanye West- Last Call College Dropout

Mayonnaise Colored Benz I push Miracle Whips

(quite possibly the best rap lyrics of all time)

Kanye West- All Falls Down

Even if you in a Benz you still a (edited) in a coupe.

I wanna be the one on 106 and Park pushin a Benz.

Jay-Z – Big Pimpin’

If I wasn’t rapping baby I would still be ridin’ Mercedes
Chromin’, shinin’, sippin’ daily…

A Tribe Called Quest – Jazz (We’ve Got)

Do it for the strong, we do it for the meek
Boom it in your boom it in your boom it in your Jeep
Or your Honda or your Beemer or your Legend or your Benz
The rave of the town to your foes and your friends

Janis Joplin Ft G-Eazy- Mercedes Benz

Oh Lord won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

Puff Daddy & Mase – Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down

We made hits that’ll rearrange your whole set
And got a Benz, that I ain’t even drove yet

Outkast – Benz or Beamer

I got these thoughts, similar to the ones that call in the wild
Up in the Benz is where I be doin about a hundred miles

Riff Raff Ft G-Eazy- Mercedes

I just rolled up in a new Mercedes

Not into rap? Don’t think we forgot about you. Probably the most well-known reference to Mercedes-Benz in music comes from none other than the Eagles with their classic Hotel California:

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

Here’s hoping you like my faves! If you don’t, you might want to reconsider your taste in music 😉 Seriously though these are some of the best rap songs of all time that mention Mercedes in the lyrics. Special thanks to Stephen for creating this list for us. Sound off on what songs you would like to see put in here instead.

An Investment Like No Other

Originally purchased for $6,000 back in 1965 by Cooper Weeks, a now-retired airline captain for TWA, this ‘55 300 SL Gullwing is now worth $1.5 million and certainly looks like it’s worth at least that much.

If you’re thinking about getting a classic back to pristine shape for yourself, check out our selection of Mercedes-Benz body parts as an excellent starting point.

When I was growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, nobody had ever heard of a Gullwing. In 1965, I saw an ad in a Road & Track magazine for one for sale on consignment. It was in Switzerland. I didn’t know what it was, but it struck me.

When I bought it for $6,000 (shipping was included), my father told me, “You can’t buy that car!” It was a used car, and I could buy a new Cadillac for that price. We had no idea the Gullwing would become an icon. A lot of people think of it today as the most beautiful car ever built.

In its day, the Gullwing was the fastest production car in existence—about 160 mph. It had cutting-edge technology like fuel injection, and the styling was radical, most notably the doors, which open like the wings of a bird.

Movie stars owned these cars, such as Clark Gable and Paul Newman. It was only made from 1954 to 1957, and that’s one of the reasons it is such a notable collector’s car today. Continue Reading

EQ Class SUV is a Stunner

As much as we love classic Mercedes-Benz parts and the cars they fit into, we can’t help but find ourselves more than a little excited for some of the new stuff that Mercedes has in the works.

For instance, the slick new all-electric EQ series SUV that’s going to be coming out in 2020 looks undeniably cool both inside and out and we can’t wait to give it a test run.

Believe it or not, the world’s first all-electric cars were invented nearly 200 years ago, offering quiet, easy operation for quick around-town trips (check out my in-depth examination of EVs here).

Mercedes-Benz, being the old automotive standby that it is, first got into the EV game in 1906, but like every other major automaker, eventually ditched the batteries in favor of a gas tank.

Now, with all-electric transportation once again on the rise, Mercedes has decided to double down on EV investment, and it’s looking like its new major effort will be an SUV. Packing more than 300 miles of range, oodles of luxury, the very latest autonomous tech, and a serious amount of muscle, Merc’s new upcoming model looks to dominate a segment that’s only now starting to emerge.Continue Reading

Cool AMG Coupe Coming Soon

Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers had a recent interview with Top Gear magazine dropping juicy hints and details for the upcoming release of the ultra-premium Black series in AMG.

It seems the goal of the Black series is to take successful AMG models and push them to perfection with overhauls to make them more powerful, smoother and “balanced” as Moers put it.

We can expect the Black series to resemble previous well loved models, with a major tune up from bumper to bumper.

A new maximum-performance edition of the amazing Mercedes-AMG GT will hit dealers in 2018, Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers told Top Gear magazine. The new Black Series will top even the incredible AMG GT R announced in June.

The upgrade will start under the hood, because even the GT R doesn’t make enough power for Moers’ liking. “I know the GT R chassis is able to handle more power,” Moers told Top Gear.

But this new flagship GT won’t just be a muscle car. We already know that AMG can build powerful engines, like the V8 in the 612-horsepower E63, but they are looking for balanced performance from the upcoming Black Series, he said. Continue Reading

Mercedes-Benz Considering Exit from F1 Racing

Mercedes-Benz has been a contractual member of Formula 1 racing since 2009 where Mercedes decided to join the sport not only as a racing team but as an engine supplier.

But their agreement to remain in the sport wraps up this coming 2020 and team boss Toto Wolff says that Mercedes will remain in the sport as long as it continues to develop in a positive way.

Team boss Toto Wolff says Mercedes is only committed to Formula 1 until 2020.

Mercedes co-owner and boss Wolff told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Mercedes decided in 2009 to compete not only as an engine supplier but also with its own team in Formula 1. We have committed ourselves until 2020, but what happens then is unclear. In my opinion, we will stay in Formula 1 if the sport develops in a positive way.”

Mercedes’ commitment, as well as the other top teams, is in the form of bilateral contractual agreements with the Bernie Ecclestone-led commercial rights holder. Those rights are in the process of being taken over by Liberty Media. Continue Reading

How Active Body Control from Mercedes-Benz Works

The Mercedes-Benz line is famous for the smooth ride that each of their models delivers. This secret has been explained in their most recent models with the Active Body Control system that uses hydraulic actuators to separate the movement of the wheels from the movement of the body of the car so that the impact of bumps on the cabin is absolutely minimal.

What is more exciting is the Magic Body Control that uses cameras to prep the hydraulics ahead of time for an even smoother ride. Mercedes is certainly cementing their role as the king of suspension.

Mercedes-Benz vehicles are notorious for their smooth ride quality. Bumps and ruts just don’t bother passengers in Mercedes vehicles like they do in other cars. How does Mercedes do it? Jason Fenske from Engineering Explained is here to tell us.

In this video, Jason analyzes how two Mercedes suspension systems work. The base system is Active Body Control, and buyers can go one step further with Magic Body Control.

The key to both systems is the hydraulic dampers Mercedes uses.

These dampers have hydraulic actuators that react to bumps by making the damper assembly shorter and ruts by making it longer. That allows the tire and wheel to move without the body moving nearly as much. Continue Reading

Maybe it’s Time for a New Benz Naming Convention

Some Mercedes-Benz cars are known to have notoriously long names, but they might be left in the dust in the near future with the EQ sub-brand adding yet another prefix before the model name. Soon enough we expect the Mercedes electric supercar to be prefaced with Mercedes-Benz AMG EQ and then finally the name of the car.

Click here for all of your Mercedes parts needs, it’ll be easier than saying the new brand names

The Mercedes-Benz hypercar currently in development could face a branding conundrum as the German automaker continues to add sub-brands.

It will wear the three-pointed star, making it a Mercedes-Benz. And it is being developed by AMG, the performance sub-brand. And it will share the Formula 1 hybrid powertrain, making it eligible to be part of the new EQ sub-brand that will denote electric vehicles.

Daimler used the Paris Motor Show to confirm work is underway on the hypercar and also to launch the new EQ brand. Executives aren’t worried about a potentially lengthy moniker, which could include “Mercedes-Benz AMG EQ” and then the name of the supercar. Continue Reading

Mercedes-Benz Generation EQ

Mercedes has revealed their show car, the Generation EQ, and it is an absolutely beautiful electric crossover SUV. Intended to have a range of 500 kilometers running off of two entirely electric motors, the Generation EQ looks like a dangerous foe for Tesla. Click here for your Mercedes electrical needs.

German luxury giant Mercedes-Benz unveiled a concept version of its first premium battery-electric vehicle in Paris this past week.

The “Generation EQ” is a battery-electric crossover SUV with two electric motors and a claimed range of “up to 500 kilometers.” Officially, for now, it’s a show car — but Mercedes confirmed that it’s “close” to a vehicle it intends to bring to market in the near future.

A futuristic take on Mercedes’ current styling

On the outside, the Generation EQ is Mercedes’ take on “an avant-garde, contemporary and distinctive electro-look,” according to design chief Gorden Wagener. The most striking design element is the blue lighting in its nose, which is incorporated in the vehicle’s interior as well. Continue Reading

Mercedes Benz is a big time donor and contributor to the National Humane Society. The NHS is raffling off a New Mercedes Benz SL 400 or $50,000 cash. Mercedes is committed to giving back to many philanthropic endeavors whether human rights or animal rights. It is appalling to see any animal cruelty, especially when Mercedes is involved in a headline.

Many animal rights groups like the Animal Rescue Group in Munich use a Mercedes Sprinter van as their mobile base of operations and to bring back animals who have suffered abuse or neglect. Their sprinter van has been modified to be a mobile vet clinic. If you are an animal rights group (or someone that just love a faster vehicle) and need to get to a rescue in a hurry, tuning up your Mercedes Benz Engine is something you may want to do.

The Benz-Buccaneers Cool Club

Mercedes and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been in partnership for over a decade now, and it seems there is no plan to break ties. The Buccaneers have 500 exclusive premium Mercedes seats and of them almost all have already sold out.

The exclusive Mercedes seats offer the best experience of the game in stadium just as Mercedes intends to offer the best ride of all for its owners.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tampa Bay area Mercedes-Benz dealers announced today an extension of their partnership, which is highlighted by the addition of naming rights to the all-new Hall of Fame Club at Raymond James Stadium. All of the nearly 500 seats have already sold out for the 2016 season, however, the team has established a waiting list for interested prospects.

The Mercedes-Benz Hall of Fame Club is one of two premium seating concepts featuring all-inclusive food and beverage options, air-conditioned comfort and some of the best views of the game action.

New Mercedes Off-Roading E-Class

Mercedes has released yet another new model, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain which dares to do the unthinkable and take a luxury brand car off road or on the highway, or wherever life would take you. This relatively conservative looking off-roader has jacked up suspension and 4Matic all-wheel drive giving it the power to go wherever you’d need a Benz to go, and then some.

Joining Volvo’s new V90 Cross Country in the crossover-flavored, executive estate segment, is Mercedes-Benz’s E-Class All-Terain, teased here just a few hours ahead of its online reveal, which will be followed by a world premiere in Paris next week.

The video shows the All-Terrain’s plastic body cladding, which may (or may not) come in handy if any drivers decide to leave the safety of the road and head on to a short off-road adventure, helped by a generous ride height, adjustable air suspension and 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

Since it will keep the shell, platform and most of the nuts and bolts of the latest Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate, expect an identical interior with all the equipment offered as standard or on the options list, Continue Reading

Mercedes Delves Deeper into Electric Service Vehicles with eTruck

While we were all expecting a bit of a lull in the releases and demos while time crept up on the Paris Auto Show, Mercedes is still at it in full force, this time releasing their eTruck which is intended for commercial purposes in the near future where combustion engines may be banned due to emissions.

It seems everything is going Electric at Mercedes as nearly every new model Mercedes has shown off this year is focusing on a gasless future.

Before the Paris Auto Show opens its doors, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its innovative Urban eTruck.

Powered solely by electricity, the Urban eTruck provides a glimpse forward into the future of the truck industry, particularly in large cities where vehicles with internal combustion engines may soon be banned or heavily restricted.

Power for the eTruck comes courtesy of one high-speed asynchronous three-phase electric motor on each side. All up, the two motors deliver 250 kW (339 hp) and more importantly, 1000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. The battery packs takes the form of three individual lithium-ion modules combining for a total capacity of 212 kWh. Continue Reading

Brand New Mercedes Truck Caught On Film

The first sighting of the first-ever Mercedes-Benz pickup truck has finally come with a YouTube video from walkoART who managed to take some sweet footage of the camo textured Mercedes Benz and upload it online for us to see.

If you wanted anything like a Mercedes pickup before, you’d have to do some serious suspension overhaul on their SUVs, what a wonderful time to be alive.

We’ve known about Mercedes-Benz’s first-ever pickup truck for over a year, but until now, we haven’t seen a prototype. That changes today though, because a heavily camouflaged pickup has been captured on public roads in Germany. The truck is rumored to debut by the end of this year, so it’s likely production-ready at this point.

The video of the truck, rumored to be called the GLT, comes to us from YouTuber walkoART – Videos, who features spy shots of various Mercedes-Benz prototypes on their channel.

Even under heavy covering, you can pretty clearly see a Metris-esque front facia. Otherwise, the truck looks not unlike the new Honda Ridgeline. Continue Reading
